Higher taxation on land...

Think tank the Adam Smith Institute moots higher taxes on landowners granted planning permission. Increased capital gains tax to pay for “local community projects” has been suggested.

My money is on further increases to developer contributions as the better way to collect more £s. What is 100% clear is that the future uplift in land values will be taxed at much higher levels. How about the potential for compulsory purchase (for social housing and community schemes) at 15/20% above existing use value?

Switched on landowners are moving now on potential development land.
